Smooth, Quiet and Powerful
I've owned a couple of other (albeit cheaper) rotary tools in the past. I've also owned a vintage Dremel model (circa 1980s). That vintage Dremel model was always a pleasure to work with. When the vintage model Dremel got fatally damaged (due to a preventable accident), I turned to these cheaper, "good value", rotary tools just to get the job done. They performed well enough get the work done. But they were a pain in the but to use due to their 'mini-jackhammer' like vibration and noise; the result of substandard quality balancing, by the manufacturer, of the rotating components inside. (FYI: Such vibration is a potential ergonomic-health risk. My hand would feel numb after using one of these.) Now however, I've got this new Dremel. It runs silky smooth, quiet, and powerful. Well made tool but a caution with regard to the chain saw sharpening accessory instructions
I purchased this tool for one purpose - although it has many potential uses- and that is to quickly sharpen my chain saw blades. The separately sold accessory( Dremel A679-02) sharpening kit has printed instructions for sharpening this blade from BOTH sides of the bar/chain which left NO cutter tooth for the guide plate to rest upon sharpening from the second side. A call to the 800 Number resolved the issue and I was emailed a revised set of instructions showing the sharpening procedure from ONE side of the bar/ chain.I purchased this tool for one purpose - although it has many potential uses- and that is to quickly sharpen my chain saw blades.
